Nursing Procedures is a 5-day training course that focuses on the following skills: blood transfusion, central venous access device (CVAD) management, urinary catheter insertion, wound care, ostomy care and tracheostomy/oral/endotracheal suctioning.

Course Description:

Nursing Procedures is a 5-day training course that focuses on the following skills: blood transfusion, central venous access device (CVAD) management, urinary catheter insertion, wound care, ostomy care and tracheostomy/oral/endotracheal suctioning. Clinical skills will be performed and demonstrated on a life size mannequin under the supervision of highly qualified instructors.

Objective:

1. Understand the various nursing skills and their significance in clinical practice

2. Correctly identify and manage complications related to nursing procedures and clinical conditions

3. Safely perform the following nursing skills using proper techniques:

        a. CVAD care

        b. Nasogastric tube insertion and care

        c. Urinary catheter insertion and care

        d. Suctioning (tracheostomy, oral and endotracheal)

        e. Ostomy care

        f. Basic wound care

Prerequisite:

Students must be Registered Practical Nurses or Registered Nurses.
