Coronary Care Course
This is a 4-day-course that serves to review the basic cardiac anatomy and physiology with specific emphasis on the coronary arteries, their location, distribution, histology, and properties that distinguish them from the other arteries of the circulatory system. The course will illustrate the vital role of the platelets in the pathogenesis of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) and the inflammatory process involved. The pivotal role of the 12-Lead ECG will be discussed together with description and definition of Unstable angina and Non ST-segment and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarctions, their complications and out come. Cardiac catheterization and the cardiac cath lab nurse and his/her role will be discussed. Immersion of the vital role of nursing care, particularly recognition and identification of the cardiac patient in the emergency room and their management will form the major bulk of the course.
